From Curiosity to Community Impact

Enjoy the process of creating insight & impact that matters

At Silicon Valley Fellows, we take on time-bound Missions. Driven by the human instinct to create what’s next. Small teams tackle big civic questions with bold creativity and create real outputs.

Each Mission starts with a Key Question and ends with youth-driven insight … whether through listening, re-imagining, or proposing policy changes.

  1. Key Question: Pick a civic topic that matters + frame a key question worth exploring

  2. Mission Team: Assemble a small group based on shared curiosity + diverse strengths

  3. Pod Commitment: Choose the type of pod: listening, imagineering, or policy paper, and commit to producing a tangible deliverable.

  4. Do the Work: Research. Interview. Brainstorm. Debate. Create.

  5. Share the Work: Present your work to real civic leaders, lawmakers, and public officials: to inform, inspire, and spark change

Note: Missions evolve. In response to a Key Question, you might start off with a Listening Pod and end up as a Policy Pod. The only ask: create something that moves the civic conversation forward in a constructive manner.

Think like a ‘civic engineer’

Where Silicon Valley DNA meets real-world civic action

Our Missions are guided by a simple approach anchored in 3 pillars:

  • Systems Insight: Understand the real problem … not just the symptoms or surface level headlines (which can tend to be polarizing)

  • Purposeful Imagination: Develop creative yet practical solutions that can be tested, improved and scaled … unconstrained by orthodoxies or deeply rooted assumptions

  • Human Impact: Lead with empathy for the ‘user’ and reflect on how real human lives might change for the better … in a 100X future that doesn’t exist as yet
